Ephesians 5:21-6:23
This scripture discusses the various roles that people in the congregation have. As a husband and Christian, I have additional responsibilities than if I was a single Christian.
I must instruct my family in the ways of Jehovah as well as care for their spiritual needs (1 Timothy 5:8, Ephesians 6:4). A husband must also endeavor to treat his wife and family the way Jesus treats the congregation (Ephesians 5:25, 28-30, 33, 1 Corinthians 11:3). In fact, if I were to intentionally ignore this counsel, my prayers would be hindered (1 Peter 3:7).
Even if a person is married to an unbelieving wife, he must still honor the marriage arrangement as established by Jehovah God (1 Corinthians 7:12-16). Jehovah refers to the congregation as His household, providing us an example to follow by looking at how Jehovah cared for Israel (1 Timothy 3:15). Therefore, if a husband is to his family as Jehovah is to the Christian Congregation, there is a weighty responsibility on my shoulders that I must study and endeavor to live up to.
