So I found out two nights ago that Conner has taught himself chess. I knew he'd been playing chess on the computer, but I didn't think he was learning. He proudly showed me how the rook, bishop, knight, queen, and pawn all move. So, last night I played a game of chess with him after work. His mom watched while he and I played and talked about the game.

Years ago, while growing up, I had a friend named Don. He was a quiet, shy chap, but always had people's best interests at heart. He always did his best to be spiritually minded, and I remember that given the choice of maybe violating his conscience on something or simply staying away from it, he chose to stay away.

So I have been playing host to my sister-in-law and her three kids off and on for a few weeks now. I don't mind because they are well-behaved and a real credit to their mother, who is very respectful of my home and helps around the house. The reason she has to come here has me a bit steamed, but with a lot of prayer and a few Scriptures (and lots and lots of Holy Spirit), I have been able to keep my calm and help her and her kids endure.
